I did not know your husband and father all that well - we served on several committees at Illinois - but I saw the obituary in the Illinois Alumni magazine and felt the need to comment. Don was one of those guys who you knew, if you ever needed help or reassurance, he would be there. A truly stand up individual. I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are so sorry to hear about Don. What a shock. We had no idea. Loved seeing his picture and remembering his infectious smile. He was great to work with. And Bob and I enjoyed the MAC trips with you both. We have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Kim and family, I am saddened by Don's passing. Don was a great member of the USF Team. He always took the time to have a true conversation. He always spoke so highly of all his girls. He was so proud of all of you. You could see the sparkle in his eye when he spoke of you. The world is a better place because of Don. I am forever touched by his kindness and love of life. Kim, Taylor, Kaelyn and Camryn, we’re shocked and sadden to hear of your recent loss. It's hard to imagine words offering much comfort during these times, but do use them to find peace, understanding and resolve. Be gentle with yourself and don't let fatigue and loneliness evolve into fear. Keep peace in your soul. And to the Knoche family may you too be at peace with recent events. And whether or not you have clarity, know that faith and belief in a higher power will heal wounds of pain, anger and sorrow. Love is a powerful emotion - it can be displayed in many ways. Use it.

Always in our hearts,
Mike & Cola' Harrison

Kim and girls -

Words cannot express how much heartache we are feeling with Don's passing.

We were able to see Don right before Christmas at Fresh Market. We talked Illini sports and softball.

His smile and as he said many times on the softball field "have fun" are two things we will never forget about Don.

He will forever be in our hearts.

Love and continued prayers.

I knew Don from the time that I worked at US food service. Don was very gracious in sharing his knowledge, time, and information with me so that I could grow into my new job. More importantly, Don and I had numerous conversations about our faith in Jesus Christ and his dying work on the cross to save us from sin. While I am so sad to hear of his departure from earth, and my heart goes out to Kim and his daughters, I am uplifted by the firm knowledge that he is in glory, for eternity, with our Savior. In the final analysis nothing else matters. Blessings to all his family & friends.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God's sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subject to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) I hope that reflecting on these thoughts will give you some relief during this difficult time.
