Darrell Dean Painter, 67, of Staunton, Illinois passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Born July 11, 1949 in Mason, Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Herman Painter. He married Linda Wiesemann on November 13, 1971 and she survives. He retired as an adjuster with Olin Corporation in East Alton, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1974 during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers. Darrell enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, wood-working, hunting & fishing, gardening & mowing, motorcycle riding, and was active in the Patriot Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Painter of Staunton, IL; 2 sons, Bronson Painter (wife Andrea) of Moro, IL; Corey Painter (wife Becky) of Staunton, IL; 1 daughter, Robyn Schoen (fiancé Jessica Gieson) of Mt. Olive, IL; 8 grandchildren, Devin Painter, Emily Painter, Addyson Painter, Harrison Painter, Ashleigh Painter, Zachary Painter, Staley Schoen, and David Schoen Jr.; 1 great grandson, Jaxx Gray; 2 sisters, Doris Warren (Richard) of Stewardson, IL and Barbara Holmes (Leroy) of Centralia, IL; 2 brothers, Herman Painter Jr. (Vera) of Mason, IL and Roy Painter (Angela) of Toledo, IL; 1 sister-in-law, Shirley Hollaway (Stanley) of Anchorage, AK; 2 brothers-in-law, Kenny Wiesemann (Kris) of Worden, IL and Danny Wiesemann (Karen) of Manchester, MO; mother-in-law, Laverne Wiesemann of Worden, IL. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ottmar Wiesemann. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 2016 at 8:30 AM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with Rev. Ed Stephens officiating. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted. Memorials are suggested to either the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight Program or to the Illinois Patriot Guard.
