Donald G. Knoche, 57 of Bloomington, Illinois, formerly of Dorchester, Illinois passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his residence in Bloomington, Illinois. Born December 4, 1960 in Litchfield, Illinois, he was a son of Mrs. Donna Knoche and the late Harold Knoche. He married Kim Frey on November 24, 1984 in Staunton, Illinois and she survives. He worked as an Account Executive for U.S. Foods. Don attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he was a passionate member of the Marching Illini. His love for the orange and blue has continued in his avid support as a season ticket holder for Fighting Illini football and basketball. Don enjoyed tailgating with family and friends at Fighting Illini football games, and in the rare occasion the Fighting Illini were invited to a bowl game, Don was sure to be there! Don met his wife, Kim, at the University of Illinois, and all three of their daughters have attended school there. Don was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) Fraternity, and has served as long-standing member of the AGR Alumni Board in Champaign. He was currently serving as the President of the AGR Alumni Board. Keeping close ties with his childhood community, Don was an “Honorary” member of the Dorchester Volunteer Fire Department where he enjoyed participating in the Dorchester Homecoming Fish Fry. He loved spending time with his family, and looked forward to their yearly trek to Walt Disney World where he never missed The Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom & The Jammitors at Epcot.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Frey of Bloomington, IL; 3 daughters, Taylor Knoche of Philadelphia, PA; Kaelyn Knoche of Atlanta, GA; and Camryn Knoche of Bloomington, IL; his mother, Donna Knoche of Dorchester, IL; 2 sisters, Janice (Gary) Abner of Riverton, IL and Susan (Mike) Missler of Auburn, IL; 1 brother, Richard (Deni) Knoche of Dorchester, IL; mother-in-law, Karen Frey of Staunton, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with Rev. Jonathan Huehn officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Memorials are suggested to the Alpha Gamma Rho Scholarship Fund in memory of Don Knoche.
