Roy M. Nelson, 75 of Staunton, Illinois passed away at his residence in Staunton on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Born May 26, 1942 in Geneva, Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Elmer L. Nelson. He married Bonnie Faulkner on May 18, 1962 in Centreville, Illinois and she survives. He worked as a repairman for Pitney Bowes Office Equipment for many years. He last worked as a deliveryman for McKay Auto Parts for several years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He was a member of First United Baptist Church of Staunton. Roy enjoyed antiquing at the Pink Elephant, the Chirping Frog, and collected marbles.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Nelson of Staunton, IL; 1 daughter, Elizabeth (Josh) Welch of Worden, IL; 3 grandchildren, Whitney, Emma, and Charlotte Welch; 2 brothers-in-law, Darrell (Donna) Faulkner of Staunton, IL and Gerold (Phyllis) Faulkner of Houston, TX. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Juanita Ebert.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with Rev. Art Garland officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Graveside military rites will be observed. Memorials are suggested to either Macoupin County Military Support Group or to Giving Veterans Hope.
