Richard Carl Albrecht, 82 of Staunton, Illinois passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, Illinois. Born May 5, 1934 in Omphghent Township, Madison County, Illinois, he was a son of the Late Mr. & Mrs. Emil Albrecht Sr. He married Mary Ann Dubach on December 6, 1969 in Highland, Illinois and she survives. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a self-employed farmer all his life. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton; a member of the Staunton Masonic Temple- Scottish Rite-32nd degree Shriner; past Board Member of Spangle Cemetery; ATA of Alhambra; Staunton FFA Alumni; and Life member of the Staunton VFW Post #1241.
He is survived by his Wife, Mary Ann Albrecht of Staunton, IL; 4 Children, Cynthia Albrecht of Alhambra, IL; Denise Albrecht of Collinsville, IL; Terry (Robyn) Albrecht of Staunton, IL; and Sandra (Drew) Stiegemeier of Staunton, IL; 2 Grandchildren, Chloe Albrecht and Griffin Stiegemeier; 1 Sister, Esther Turner of Webster Groves, MO; 1 Brother, Emil (Mary Ann) Albrecht of Worden, IL; 1 Sister-in-Law, Bernice (James) Gilomen of Trenton, IL. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Paul in infancy and Robert P. Albrecht; 3 Brothers-in-Law, Lewis Turner, Fred Vosholler, and LeRoy Ruehrup; and 2 Sisters-in-Law, Jean Vosholler and Carol Ruehrup.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 PM on Tuesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton with Rev. Debbie Jo Atkins officiating. Burial will be held at Spangle Cemetery near Livingston, IL. Memorials are suggested to either Spangle Cemetery, Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, or to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton.
