Gene was my best friend while serving in the Navy. We seemed to hit it off when we first met. He taught me how to play golf while on the ship using a sawed off broom handle. I was in his wedding party when he married Marion. Lost contact with him for a few years but thanks to the internet we were able to get together again in the past 10 or so years. I will miss the ribbing we gave each other in phone calls.

Heartfelt condolences to all family members on the passing of our friend and shipmate Gene Bahn. Gene served aboard the USS LST 1156 from 1952 to 1953. He was a Plankholder and member of the ship's commissioning crew. He was a member of our association from 2002 to 2010, and had attended some of our reunions. It was always a pleasure to have Gene with us during those times. He will be deeply missed by all shipmates. Fair winds and following seas, Mate.

I only knew Gene from reunions of shipmates of the U.S.S. Terrebonne Parish - LST 1156. Gene was a Plankowner (original crew) of our ship. My sincere condolences to Gene's family, as I know he will be missed.. Praying that our Lord will comfort you. Gene will be missed among his old shipmates.. Wishing you fair winds and following seas..
