Fredrick E. Schlechte, 73, of Staunton, IL passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton, IL. Born March 25, 1943 in Litchfield, IL, he was the son of late Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Schlechte. He married Vivian Fritzsche and she passed away on August 3, 1972. He worked at Olin Corporation in East Alton, IL for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Fredrick was proud of his country and served it well. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL. He was a peaceful person and a good provider. He like sports, football was his favorite. He loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by 1 Daughter, Sabrina (Jeffrey) Linenfelser of Staunton, IL; 2 Sons, Garret (Stephanie) Schlechte of Calvert City, KY & Eric Schlechte of Benton, KY; 8 Grandchildren, Cody, Kevin, Madison, Ember, Anthony, Olivia, Sarah, and Jackson. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Pamela, in 1966.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hamel, IL. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Benjamin Ball officiating. Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, IL. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
