Carole S. “Peggy” Jones, 78 of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL. Born November 5, 1937 in Worden, IL, she was a daughter of the late Mr. John Ooton and the late Mrs. Maude (Loughran) Ooton. She married Russell Jones on September 20, 1957 in Worden, IL and he survives. She worked as a driver for Edwardsville School District # 7. She was a member of the Worden United Methodist Church in Worden, IL. She was an avid stock car fan.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Jones of Edwardsville, IL; 1 son, Tracy Jones of Wickenburg, AZ; 4 grandchildren, Trevor (Nikki) Jones of Trenton, IL; Christina (Donald) Buchanan of Raymondville, MD; Trisha (Shawn) Tate of Staunton, IL; and Shane Jones of Staunton, IL; 11 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Sharon “Kay” (Richard) Simmons of Edwardsville, IL; 1 daughter-in-law, Belinda Jones of Trenton, IL. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 son, Thomas Jones; 5 sisters, Betty, Mary Alice, Joan, Maureen, and Patricia; and 1 brother, John “Bud” Ooton Jr.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday at the Worden United Methodist Church in Worden, IL. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Worden United Methodist Church in Worden with Rev. Sue Busler officiating. Burial will be held at Worden City Cemetery in Worden, IL. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
