William Moser Obituary

William John "Bill" Moser, 87, of Staunton, Illinois, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was born February 16, 1936 in Granite City, IL, the son of the late Fred & Catherine (Dickman) Moser.  He married Ellen Wiltrout in 1971 & she survives.

Bill retired from Illinois Power/Ameren after 42 years of service.  After retirement, he spent his time doing construction & handyman work, he did consulting work for Ameren, he worked for the City of Staunton, served as a bartender at TC's Tavern & Mr. T's Tavern, both in Staunton, & volunteered his time with various community events.  He was a member of the Granite City Aerie #1126 Fraternal Order of the Eagles since 1962, & was an honorary member of Concordia Hall in Staunton.  He played & coached the Men's Softball League with the Eagles for years, he loved bowling, golfing, & fishing, but his favorites were whatever his "Kids" were participating in.  He enjoyed traveling & adventure, spending time with family & friends, but his true passion was the joy he brought to so many throughout his 62 years of being "Santa".

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ellen (Wiltrout) Moser;  two daughters -  Dawn (John) Rae, & Tami (Mike) Sherman;  bonus daughter -  Lisa (George) Marsh;  six grandchildren -  Briana (Austin) Sherfy,  Kati (Josh) Pyle,  Tron Sherman,  Lexi (Billy) Estrada,  Britney (Charles) Lucania,  & Michael (Kourtney) Hagnauer;  eight great grandchildren -  Braxton Sherfy,  Emmett Pyle,  Griffin Pyle,  Trenton Branham,  Lizzy & Francisco Estrada,  &  Landon, Sophia, & Grayson Lucania;  one sister -  Freda Kraus;  & many nieces, nephews, & extended family members he adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  two brothers -  Fred Moser & David Moser;  & three sisters -  Edna Ward, Tina Cashen, & Lori Aerne.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 3 PM to ? at Concordia Hall in Staunton, Illinois.  Memorials are suggested to the Staunton Sports Boosters,  Helping Hands of Staunton,  or to the family.
