William Hoffman Obituary

William Allen "Bill" Hoffman, 67 of Benld, IL, passed away at
his residence on May 18th, 2026, at 7:22 AM. Born on November 1, 1958,
in East St. Louis, IL, he was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Virgil
Leonard "Pete" & Mary Louise (Brewer) Hoffman. In 1975 he met Alisa J.
Richardson while working at Pizza Hut together. They married on June
3rd, 1978 and she survives. When he was 17, he joined the US Marine
Corps, serving as a Unit Diary Clerk while stationed in Twentynine
Palms, CA. He also received his Associates Degree from Bellville Area
College. He worked hard for 22 years as a car carrier for Isringhausen
Imports in Springfield, IL. He later retired from the US Postal
Service.
He loved baseball since he was a child. Collecting the 5 cent
packs with the piece of gum in the pack. He enjoyed learning all the
stats and continued building his collection for the majority of his
life. He especially loved Cardinal Baseball. He was very passionate
about music and really enjoyed sharing it with the people he loved. He
attended many concerts with Alisa and their friends throughout the
years.
He was very intrigued and learned a lot about astronomy and loved
stargazing. He also loved to BBQ,especially for his family. Many of
his days were spent with his family at his house next to the pond. A
place we all called "Green Acres".  He took pride in taking care of
the property.  He also cherished the time he spent fishing there with
his Dad. He was the family meteorologist, a human GPS and he literally
never missed one episode of Survivor. He had a tough exterior but that
disappeared when he spent time with kids. Possessing such a
beautifully playful heart with children. He was always the funniest
person in the room and shared in a lot of laughter and inside jokes
with so many people.
He is also survived by 3 children, Crystal Dawn Hoffman of
Staunton, IL, Robert Allen (Krista Brenner) Hoffman of Staunton, IL,
and Terri Lynn (Mikey) Hoffman of Gillespie, IL, Eight grandchildren,
