Vernon F. "Blote" Blotevogel

Vernon F. "Blote" Blotevogel, 91, of Worden, Illinois, passed away at 7:35 AM on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at The Glenwood in Staunton, Illinois.  He was born March 31, 1932 in Worden, Illinois, the son of the late George & Bertha (Pieper) Blotevogel.  He married Lois A. Brakhane & she passed away on May 20, 1987.  He later married Brigitte "Barb" Matzat & she survives.

Vernon was an Operator at Shell Oil in Roxana, IL for many years, & served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War era.  He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Worden, Illinois.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son -  Thomas (Sondra) Blotevogel of Worden, IL;  a son-in-law -  Scott (Susie) Myers of Worden, IL;  seven grandchildren -  Richard (Kimberly) Blotevogel,  Victor "Kyle" (Jennifer) Blotevogel,  Zachary Blotevogel,  Justin Blotevogel,  Frederick Blotevogel,  Lisa Ann (Dade) Noones,  & Ashley Myers;  six great grandchildren;  one brother -  Edgar (Donna) Blotevogel of Tulsa, Oklahoma;  & several nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive.  Besides his parents & first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter -  Patrice "Pat" Myers;  & a brother -  Victor Blotevogel.  

Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Worden, Illinois.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Worden, Illinois, with Rev. Heath Curtis officiating.  Burial will be in Worden Lutheran Cemetery in Worden, Illinois.  Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church of Worden, Illinoia.
