Velma Talick, 92 of New Douglas, Illinois died Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Heritage Health in Gillespie, Illinois. Born July 17, 1928 in rural New Douglas, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. James & Ida Mae (Arndt) Forbes. She married Albert C. Talick on February 7, 1953 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Illinois and he passed away on January 30, 2016. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Community Hospital of Staunton prior to her marriage and then worked full time with her husband farming. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston, IL- The Altar & Rosary Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; The Divine Mercy Group at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton, as well as volunteered at HIS Service Station in Staunton. In addition to Albert and her family, bird-watching and her flower gardens were the love of her life.
She is survived by 1 Son, James L. Dalhaus of New Albany, IN, 1 Grandson, 3 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, 3 Sisters, Laverne Slightom of Carlinville, IL, Lorraine Jackson of Benld, IL, and Jean Fox of Dawson, IL, 1 Brother, Ron Forbes of Sorento, IL, 1 Aunt, Hazel Blaskovich, Daughter-in-Law, Katie Kelley of Livingston, IL. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son, Robert C. “Bobby” Talick and 1 Brother, James Earl Forbes.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston, IL. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston with Father George Radosevich officiating. Burial will be held at Spangle Cemetery near Livingston, IL. Memorials are suggested to either Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Livingston, Catholic Charities of Alton, IL, or to St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, SD.
All COVID-19 guidelines will be observed during visitation period and funeral service.
