T. Russell Jones

T. Russell Jones, 85 of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 at his residence in Belleview Florida. Born August 8, 1936 in Alhambra, IL, he was the son of the late Mr. Thomas Jones and the late Mrs. Francis Eileen (Bruder) Jones. He married Carole “Peggy” (Ooton) Jones on September 20, 1957 in Worden, IL, who preceded him death. He worked in the heating and air-conditioning profession at Comfort Sales Agency/Modern Wholesale Supply for over 47 years. He served as a tank driver (Sergeant) in the US Army from 1955-1957, whereas he was honored as the driver of the year for his battery.  He was a member of the Worden United Methodist Church in Worden, IL. He was an avid stock car fan. He enjoyed the outdoors, travel, drafting, carpentry, spending time at the river or lake house, & doing weekend projects.

He is survived by son, Tracy Jones of Wickenburg, AZ; 4 grandchildren, Trevor (Nikki) Jones of Trenton, IL; Christina (Donald) Buchanan of Raymondville, MO; Trisha Tate of Jacksonville, IL; and Shane (Brooke) Jones of Belleview, FL; 13 great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Sharon “Kay” Simmons of Edwardsville, IL; 1 daughter-in-law, Belinda Jones of Pekin, IL. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Jones and a sister, Barbara Otto.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the Worden United Methodist Church in Worden IL. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Worden United Methodist Church in Worden with Rev. Sue Busler officiating. Burial will be held at Worden City Cemetery in Worden, IL. Memorials are suggested to the Dementia Society of America.
