Shirley A. (Slifka) Hebenstreit

Shirley A. Hebenstreit, 93, of Staunton, IL, passed away at 10:08 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Litchfield Health & Rehab Center in Litchfield, IL.  She was born June 28, 1931 in Livingston, IL, the daughter of the late George & Ann (Kerin) Slifka.  She married Adolf A. "Fud" Hebenstreit on June 11, 1955 in Livingston, IL & he passed away on May 29, 2019.

Shirley was a bookkeeper for several local & area businesses for many years.  She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Staunton, & enjoyed shopping, going to the casino, & working at The Thrift Store.

She is survived by one daughter -  Kelda (David) DeBarr of Litchfield, IL;  one son -  David (Debbie) Hebenstreit of St. Louis, MO;  four grandchildren -  Derek (Megan) DeBarr,  Anne (Preston) Hisle,  Tyler Hebenstreit,  &  Trevor Hebenstreit;  five great grandchildren -  Ethan, Liam, & Harrison Hisle,  &  Isaac & Samuel DeBarr;  & several nieces & nephews also survive.  Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by one brother -  George Slifka;  &  two sisters -  Jane Meyer & Mary McNair.

Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 AM on Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, IL.  Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, IL, with Rev. Thomas Hagstrom officiating.  

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers' Association.
