Roy William Gusewelle

Roy William Gusewelle, 83, of Staunton, IL - formerly of Prairietown, IL, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Christian Hospital NE in St. Louis, MO.  He was born February 8, 1943 in Prairietown, IL, the son of the late Edwin & Pauline (Crabtree) Gusewelle.

Roy was a Truck Driver & drove for several transport companies, including FS, Staunton Fuel & Materials, ABF, & USF Holland.  He was a Teamsters member & served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1972.  He enjoyed meeting friends for weekly breakfast & playing cards.  He loved working on his tractors & taking tractor rides with friends.

He is survived by two children -  Gayle Gusewelle (Jim Sexton) of Worden, IL,  &  Ryan (Maria) Gusewelle of Staunton, IL;  two grandchildren -  Collin  &  Eric Gusewelle;  & one sister -  Arlene Schaefer of Prairietown, IL.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister -  Karen Goersch.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL.  The Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites.
