Richard D. Barber Sr., 65, of White City, IL, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025 at his daughter's residence in Wilsonville, IL. He was born October 28, 1959 in Staunton, IL, the son of the late Arthur Lewis & Mary Louise (Large) Barber Sr. He married Georgia Kay Hinthorne on May 22, 1982 in Bunker Hill, IL & she passed away on June 22, 2015.
Richard was the Owner/Operator of GMAW Transportation, specializing in hauling campers & boats. He graduated from Staunton High School in 1978, lettering in Track, & was the manager for the SHS Football & Basketball teams. He was a member of the "Pinochle Players" of Mt. Olive, IL, an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, & enjoyed fishing, hunting, & camping.
He is survived by three children - Richard D. Barber Jr. of Wilsonville, IL, Stacey L. Barber (Jared Pruitt) of Wilsonville, IL, & Jason L. Barber of Mt. Olive, IL; extended daughter - Beverly Stagner of Austin, TX; extended sons - Daniel Fey of Gillespie, IL, & David Bradley of Pana, IL; two grandchildren - Ben & Hunter Pruitt; & numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive. Besides his wife & parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters - Cindy Westbrook, Barbara Mills, & Mary Roberts; & five brothers - Art, David, Michael, Ronald, & Ricky Barber.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL.
Memorials are suggested to the Transportation Fund at the Moeller Cancer Center in Alton, IL.
