Rena Joan Langer, 80, of Livingston, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at her residence in Livingston, IL. She was born January13, 1944 in Honey Bend, North Litchfield Township, Montgomery County, IL, the daughter of the late Chester James & Ollie Marie (Neldon) Greer. She married John Ridenhower in March of 1963. She later married Alfred Langer in March of 1975 & he passed away in 2016.
She was employed as a waitress & cook at local diners for several years, & later owned Al's Tavern in Livingston, IL in the early 1990's. She was also a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
Rena was a competitive card player & loved to beat her family at Rummy. She loved the Chicago Cubs & seeing them win the World Series in 2016. She was a great cook & loved to feed the ones she loved, & loved sharing meals with her loved ones. She had a generous heart & would give to anyone in need. She had a contagious smile & laugh, & would often get herself tickled to the point of tears. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren & great grandchildren. She also loved to garden & enjoyed her flowers.
She is survived by her daughter - Patricia (Kenneth) Crumbey of Livingston, IL; her son - Frank (Jodee) Langer of Staunton, IL; her grandchildren - Kristy (Fred) Peterson of Livingston, IL, Kevin Crumbey of Bunker Hill, IL, Jesse Crumbey of Livingston, IL, Lacey Jo Crumbey of Livingston, IL, Bryle & Bryanna Langer of Staunton, IL; her step grandson - Bryce Buzick of Mt. Olive, IL; her great grandchildren - Benjamin Peterson, Natalee Crumbey, Caleb & Colbey Crumbey, & Joshua Jones; one sister - Pansy Day of Litchfield, IL; & one brother - Lee (Terry) Greer of Taylorville, IL; several nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive. Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by one sister - Gene Bobblitt; & one brother - Jack Kean.
No visitation or services are scheduled. Memorials are suggested to either the Livingston/Williamson Fire Department or to the Livingston Park Association.
