Patricia "Pat" Beatrice Cook

Patricia "Pat" Beatrice Cook, 75, of Edwardsville, IL, formerly of Collinsville, IL, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Staunton Health & Rehabilitation Center in Staunton, IL.  She was born August 23, 1948 in Highland, IL to the late Mervil J. & Ann J. (Boeser) Cook.

Pat earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology & History from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL (SIUE).  Following graduation, Pat worked for the Payroll Division of SIUE for 11 years, leaving to join McDonnell Douglas Corporation, which eventually would become Boeing Corporation..  She worked as a Senior Systems Analyst for 25 years at Boeing.  Pat loved both jobs & all the people she worked with.  She loved people in general & loved to socialize with many groups of people - SIUE, Boeing, new friends, old friends, her family, & the long time group of friends that were just called "the girls".  She also enjoyed the annual gathering of the Collinsville High School Class of 1966, where she would see many of her old friends & take many wonderful pictures.  Pat loved to have fun & went on many cruises, with a number of trips to Las Vegas.  If a friend called to go out to dinner or some entertainment venue, she was ready to go.  She loved her family passionately, especially the "kids", which were her nieces & nephews.  She will be extremely missed by everyone who knew her.

Pat was a life-long learner - which her parents instilled in all their children.  If you questioned something, research it!  She wanted to learn about the world & the people in it.  Her absence leaves an emptiness in our lives.  She now can have peace without pain.  Her last thought would be to have fun, live your life without racism or fear, & make your life worthwhile!

Surviving to cherish her memory are her twin sister -  Pamela "Pam" Cook of Edwardsville, IL;  her sister -  Mary (Steve) Vick of Alhambra, IL;  her brother -  Michael (Jan Surbey) Cook of Morro Bay, CA;  her nieces -  Julie Cook of Boise, ID,  Jennifer Coca of Collinsville, IL,  &  Stephanie (Alex) Pruett of Edwardsville, IL;  her nephews -  Todd (Debi) Cook of New Meadows, ID,  Randy Shinn of St. Louis, MO,  &  Adam Vick of Belleville, IL;  a great nephew -  Ricky Coca;  & her great nieces -  Maria Coca,  Kayla Coca,  Ember Pruett,  Holly Bollman,  &  Megan Carlyle.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a great niece -  Mallie Royer.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital.
