Nelda Irene (Young) Bierbaum
October 15, 1934 ~ March 6, 2023 (age 88) 88 Years Old
Nelda Irene Bierbaum of Staunton, Illinois, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at Heritage Health in Staunton. She was born October 15, 1934 in Sorento, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Wendell & Fairy (Bean) Young & had attained the age of 88 years old.
She graduated from Staunton High School in 1951 & married her best friend the late Otto Leroy Bierbaum on June 12, 1951 in Sorento, Illinois.
Nelda owned multiple businesses with her late husband Leroy (Leroy's Appliance Store in Staunton & The Ice Cream Parlor in Vandalia, Illinois). She held various other positions over her life, but eventually became a homemaker once they created a family. She also devoted a lot of time in a regional position for the Girl Scouts of America which included volunteering. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton.
Nelda enjoyed traveling the world in her younger years. She was blessed with a large & loving family whom she absolutely loved to spend time with.
She is survived by her children - Kandy (Lynn) Buzick of Staunton, IL, David (Mary Ellen) Bierbaum of Franklin, IL, & Laurie Westerheide of St. Charles, MO; five grandchildren - Maria (Bobby) Bodner of Staunton, IL, Jodee (Frank) Langer of Staunton, IL, Justin Westerheide of St. Charles, MO, Catelynn Whitworth of Wilsonville, IL, & Madison Bierbaum of Moro, IL; six great grandchildren - Tyler Finnegan, Bryce Buzick, Bryle Langer, Aaron Bodner, Bryanna Langer, & Chase Bodner; two brothers - Tom (Barb) Young & Alan (Rosalie) Young; & several nieces & nephews also survive.
Private interment of cremains will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois. The family will greet friends from 1 to 4 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the VFW Hall in Staunton, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to either the Staunton High School Boys Soccer Program, Staunton High School Girls Program, or Partners for Pets.
