Nancy Potter Obituary

Nancy Pearl Potter of New Douglas, IL, passed away on November 11, 2022 at her son's house surrounded by her children.  She was born September 12, 1932 in Cado, Oklahoma, to Matthew "Pete" & Mattie (Vincent) Hogan.  She was married to Clifford Potter of St. Louis, MO on August 1, 1953 in Durant, Oklahoma, & he passed away on March 2, 1989.

Nancy was employed as a CNA with Heritage Health in Staunton, IL, for many years.  She was also a member of the New Douglas Seniors Club, attended New Douglas Baptist Church, enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She loved to bake cookies & play games with her grandchildren.  Nancy also enjoyed playing cards with her family & friends, especially her sisters.  When the sisters all got together you can bet there was a game of Cut Throat Rummy going on & snacks were coming out!  When Nancy wasn't spending time with family she was taking care of all her friends.  If there was someone not feeling good or had just lost a spouse you could be sure she was going to be there in any way she could to help.

Nancy is survived by her three children -  son Steve & Patty Potter of Worden, IL,  son John & Karen Potter of Staunton, IL, & daughter Mollie & Tony Langendorf of New Douglas, IL;  seven grandchildren (aka "Sugaboog's") -  Jake & Tyler Potter, Sean Potter & fiance' Jennifer, Christian Potter, Samantha & Nathan Hopkins, Emily & Vance Myers, Tyler Langendorf, & Morgan Langendorf;  four great grandchildren -  Dexter, Penny, & Silas Potter, & Nora Hopkins.  She is also survived by two sisters -  Patsy "Pat" Wren & Mary Bryant, both of Durant, Oklahoma; & numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, & great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford Potter, her brothers -  J.G. Hogan, Billy Hogan, Ray Hogan, & John D. Hogan; & her sister Kay Naranjo.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church in Worden, Illinois.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church in Worden, Illinois, with Pastor John Heater officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville, Illinois.  Memorials are suggested to either the American Cancer Society or to the New Douglas Baptist Church.
