Mona Patricia (Estes) Buse

Mona Patricia (Estes) Buse, 83 of Staunton, IL passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at St. John’s Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Born April 15, 1937 in Marietta, MS, she was a daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Elbert O. & Azilee (Gardner) Estes. She married James Robert Buse on July 5, 1952 and he passed away on August 17, 1978. In the late 1960’s, she began working for Community Memorial Hospital of Staunton in Housekeeping and as a Certified Nurses Aide, then in 1979 she attended LCCC School of Nursing, and earned her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse). She retired in November 2006. Mona was a past member of Bethel Baptist Church of Staunton. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and health care worker.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Trina (Bill) Rothe of Staunton, IL, 1 son, James R. (Patricia) Buse, Jr of Waukegan, IL, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Tom Estes of Marietta, MS, and Ted (Sherill) Estes of Marietta, MS, 3 sister-in-law, Peggy Feret of Elk Grove Village, IL, Lula Bell Cruz of Guntown, MS, and Trula Gibson of Guntown, MS. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by 2 children in infancy, 1 son, Ronald W. Buse, 2 sisters, Beth Shamlin & Helen Clark, 3 brothers, Carl, Bill, & Fred Estes.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL with Pastor Derrick Taylor officiating. Memorials are suggested to ether Hospice of Central Illinois or to the local charity of the donor’s choice.
