Michele S. "Mickey" Muin, 81, of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 23, 2026. She was born on March 8, 1945 in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Joseph P. & Katherine E. (Green) Kucinick, who preceded her in death.
On October 30, 1971, Mickey was united in marriage to James Muin. Together, they shared more than five decades of love, companionship, & devotion.
Mickey was a 1963 graduate of Livingston High School. After dedicating many years to raising her family, she continued her education & proudly graduated from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg in 2000. She later worked in Computer Information Systems & Analytics at UCM. In her retirement, she and her grandson Jacob became the new owners of Stop & Shop Flea Market in Sedalia, MO.
Before returning to college, Mickey devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a mother & was always there for her three sons - Jim, Mike, & Pat. No matter the activity or occasion, she was actively involved. She served as the family photographer, was a Cub Scout den leader, volunteered for countless projects, & always made herself available whenever someone needed help. Saying "no" when it came to helping others was simply not in her vocabulary.
Her sons fondly remembered how she drove them to & attended every sporting event, school activity, & important occasion in their life. She & Jim were also very faithful in attending their grandson's sporting events & school activities as well. Mickey was also known as an excellent dancer & frequently tried to teach her uncoordinated boys how to dance.
Mickey was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan long before it became popular, a devotion proudly reflected in her Chiefs ankle tattoo. She also enjoyed spending time gardening & fishing with her husband, Jim.
Serving others was an important part of Mickey's life. She collected food, clothing, & other needed items for various organizations, delivered Meals on Wheels, & served for several years as President of the American Business Women's Association in Sedalia, MO. More recently, she served on the board of the Central Missouri Community Credit Union. She generously supported Recovery Lighthouse & was committed to recycling & caring for the environment in every way she could.
A woman of deep faith, Mickey was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish, St. Patrick Chapel, in Sedalia, MO.
In addition to her husband, James, Mickey is survived by her three sons - James A. Muin of Sedalia, MO, Michael J. Muin of Lee's Summit, MO, & Patrick T. Muin of Shawnee, KS; one grandson - Jacob Anthony Muin; two sisters; her brother-in-law - Terry Muin & his wife, Kimberly, of Bethalto, IL; & many nieces, nephews, & extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Michey was preceded in death by her brother - Thomas Edward Kucinick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Rea Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, MO, with Pastor Travis Battershell officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 AM until service time at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sedalia, MO.
