Michael A. Schaefer

Michael A. Schaefer, 69, of East Alton, IL, passed away at 12:30 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at his residence in East Alton, IL.  He was born December 11, 1955 in Belleville, IL, the son of the late Aloysious & Agnus (Karbon) Schaefer.  He married Mary Barnes on July 1, 1989 & she passed away on September 28, 2023.

Mike was employed as a Laborer at Cero Copper Foundry in Sauget, IL for many years.  He enjoyed cutting grass, watching TV, & enjoyed his coffee.

He is survived by four children -  Michael (Kristie) Schaefer of Atlanta, GA,  Kelly Beaston of Maryville, IL,  Philip (Andrea) Schaefer of Floraville, IL,  &  Dakota Schaefer of East Alton, IL;  six grandchildren -  Jonathan Schaefer,  Ellie (Kyler) Stigelman,  Dillan Roberson,  Mason Roberson,  Abby & Eli Schaefer;  five siblings -  Tom (Diane) Schaefer of Belleville, IL,  Larry (Connie) Schaefer of Millstadt, IL,  Rick (Sally) Schaefer of Millstadt, IL,  Mary (Bob) Frierdich of Millstadt, IL,  &  Tina (Ronnie) Walsh of Waterloo, IL;  one sister-in-law -  Teri Schaefer of Freeburg, IL;  his mother-in-law -  Doris Hollaway of Livingston, IL;  several nieces & nephews also survive.  Besides his wife & parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers -  Robert (Cheryl) Schaefer  &  Gary Schaefer;  &  his fathers-in-law -  Charlie Hollaway  &  William Barnes.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held from 1 to 4 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Worden American Legion Hall in Worden, IL.  Memorials are suggested to Dakota Schaefer.
