Louise Mayfield Obituary

Louise Ann Mayfield passed away gracefully at her home, surrounded by her family, at 9:05 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023.  She was born in Alton, Illinois and had reached the age of 77 years old.  She was the first daughter born to Lawrence & Ruby Straub of Edwardsville, Illinois.  She married Dennis Mayfield on October 1, 1967 in Wood River, Illinois & they reached 56 years of marriage.

Louise grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois & graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1965.  She had several jobs in her lifetime.  She started as a secretary for Blue Cross in St. Louis, Missouri, & then worked for Mayfield's Produce.  In 1987 she started working in the family store, Mayfield's Landscaping.  She was also a housewife, but her favorite job was taking care of her husband Dennis & the grandchildren.  Louise loved to cook for her family & she was an amazing pie maker.  Her grandchildren even called her a pie factory because she made so many when she volunteered at the VFW in Staunton.  She learned to cook at a very young age & loved to have large gatherings so she could cook for everyone.  She was a member of Hope Tabernacle in Staunton, Illinois.

Surviving are her husband Dennis Mayfield of Staunton, IL;  their children -  Carrie (Mike) Borgini of Edwardsville, IL,  Mark (Elizabeth) Mayfield of Edwardsville, IL,  Kristy Berg of Staunton, IL, &  Daniel (Allison) Mayfield of Staunton, IL;  grandchildren -  Victoria (Luke) Tervasi,  Joseph Borgini,  Joshua Mayfield,  Jenna Mayfield,  Paul Berg,  Colton Mayfield,  Julia Mayfield, &  Laine Mayfield;  two brothers -  Robert (Cathy) Straub of Edwardsville, IL, &  Larry Straub of St. Louis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents -  Lawrence & Ruby Straub;  an infant son -  Danny Mayfield;  an infant grandson -  Caleb Mayfield;  her sister -  Beverly Anderson;  her mother-in-law & father-in-law -  Paul & Maybelle Mayfield; & two brothers-in-law -  Timothy & David Mayfield.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Hope Tabernacle in Staunton, IL, with Joseph Borgini officiating.  Everyone is invited to attend.  

Memorials may be made to Hope Tabernacle in Staunton, Illinois.
