Lois M. Stewart, 85, of Wilsonville, Illinois, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 2, 2020 at 9:10 PM at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. She was born on February 9, 1935 in Worden, Illinois to Naomi Anna Emma & Albert Deming. She married Jack Stewart on June 29, 1973, & he preceded her in death on September 22, 2005. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son – Jackie Dale Stewart; a granddaughter – Laila Stewart; a sister-in-law – Louise Deming; and a daughter-in-law – Ann Stewart.
Lois is survived by one brother – Leroy (Chap) Deming of Lampe, Missouri; her children – James Stewart of Livingston, IL; Patricia Hicken of Mt. Olive, IL; Bonnie Stewart of Gillespie, IL; Joe (Terry) Stewart of Gillespie, IL; & Wayne (Sondra) Stewart of Worden, IL; one daughter-in-law – Marilyn (Tom) Grider of Staunton, IL; grandchildren – Tom Stewart of Seattle, WA; Kenny Stewart, Cory Stewart, & Tim Stewart – all of Taylorville, IL; Anthony Ferrero of Paducah, KY; Jimmy Ferrero of Nokomis, IL; Bobby Pike & Stephen Pike – both of Mt. Olive, IL; Michael Stewart of Melbourne, FL; Tonya Leitschuh of Leroy, IL; Steffani Mansholt-Verduin of Chatham, IL; Chi Ebert-Pelo of Staunton, IL; Tori Devries-Temme of St. Peters, MO; Joey Pieper of Belleville, IL; Jennifer Stewart of Gillespie, IL; Gina Matthews & Shaila Lesicko – both of Worden, IL; a niece – Mary Baker of Lampe, MO. She leaves behind 28 great grandchildren & 12 great great grandchildren & her friends & her family at Glenwood Assisted Living.
Everyone that met or knew Lois felt her love and kindness immediately. She cared & prayed for each & every family member & friend, & even for people she didn’t know. She wore her beliefs faithfully. She was a member of First Christian Church in Worden, IL.
Lois enjoyed playing cards, games, coloring pencil art, & putting puzzles together. She had a green thumb & a love for flowers, especially her roses.
Private graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois. Williamson Funeral Home will be transporting her to her final resting place. Pastor Nathan Martin will be officiating.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced at her church in Worden. All memorials should go to the First Christian Church in Worden, Illinois.
