Larry Francis Grove, 72 of rural Bunker Hill, Illinois passed away at his residence in Bunker Hill, Illinois on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Born August 18, 1948 in Dorchester, Illinois, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. George H. & Dora Marie (Price) Grove. He married Pam Pruitt on November 19, 1970 and she survives. He worked as a Repairman Specialist at Monterey Coal Company in Carlinville, Illinois for many years, retiring in 2006. Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. Larry was an American Legion member, Volunteer Firefighter in Bunker Hill, former police officer with the city of Bunker Hill & at Gillespie Lake, & a Volunteer EMT. Larry was particularly good with his hands – he could build anything out of anything! He loved boating & hunting, & pretty much anything family related.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Grove of Bunker Hill, IL, 3 children, Russell Joseph Lyons of Benld, IL, Amy Lynn Grove of Wood River, IL, and Kelly Dawn Wigger of Brighton, IL, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Charles Grove. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 son, Larry Matthew Grove, 2 grandchildren, Trent Bailey Grove and Abraham Wigger, 2 sisters, Marie Marjory Scott Buck & Virginia Ann Hawkins, 5 brothers, Harold Floyd Grove, Daniel Evan Grove, David Leroy Grove, Donald Eugene Grove, and James Alvin Grove.
Friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Private funeral services will be held at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
