Lloyd J. Moreland Jr., "Pinky", 82, of rural Staunton, formerly of Livingston, passed away with his daughter by his side on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
He was born April 13. 1941 at his aunt & uncles's home in Germantown, IL, the son of the late lloyd J. "Muggs" Moreland Sr. & the late Pansy B. (Steward) Moreland.
He married Joyce R. Haas on July 3, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL & she preceded him in death on August 27, 2005.
Lloyd was employed with Granite City Steel for 42 1/2 years throughout many different departments, as well as being a heavy duty equipment operator with the Operating Engineers Local #520 until his retirement on November 1, 2001. He was a special patrolman for the Livingston Police Department from 1976 to 1977 & served as Mayor of Livingston from 1977 to 1981, as well as Police Commissioner & was a proud member of the NRA.
He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles with his son-in-law, family gatherings & reunions, swinging on his porch swing, & going to his grandkids sporting events, as well as spending time with friends & family.
He is survived by his daughter - Debra R. (husband Bud) Hearn; four grandchildren - Kendra, Christopher, Keith (fiance' Elizabeth), & Tanner; several great grandchildren, sister-in-law - Donna (Moreland) Miller; two nieces - Melissa Hunt & Sherry (husband Sean) Spano; & numerous other nieces, nephews, uncles, & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sons - Kenneth W. Moreland & Eric J. Moreland; daughter-in-law - Tina M. Moreland; grandson - David M. Moreland; brother - Melvin L. Moreland; as well as his father-in-law & mother-in-law - Louis & Thelma Haas Sr.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 5 to 8 PM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, with burial in New Spangle Cemetery near Livingston, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to either Staunton Area Ambulance Service, Livingston-Williamson Fire Department/Olive Fire Station, or to Staunton VFW Post #1241.
