Karen Dee Pacey, 79, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24,
2026, at The Cottages of Lake St. Louis in Lake St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on May 28,
1946, in Litchfield, Illinois, the daughter of the late William and Hildegarde (Lewerenz)
Kasubke.
Karen attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Staunton High School before
continuing her education at Hickey Business School in St. Louis. She went on to a long career
with Anheuser-Busch, where she spent the majority of her career as an executive secretary before
retiring.
She had a deep admiration for cats and devoted more than 17 years to volunteering with multiple
rescue organizations. Her work in animal rescue was a central and meaningful part of her life.
She will be remembered for her kindness, independence, and love of animals.
She is survived by her niece and nephews, Bruce (Mary Ann) Kasubke of Mexico, Missouri;
Lisa (Ryan) Lackey of Kingwood, Texas; and Bret (Michelle) Kasubke of Dardenne Prairie,
Missouri; and six great-nieces and one great-nephew, Elizabeth and Sarah Kasubke, Rachel and
Lauren Lackey, Katlyn (Jake) Elfers, and Ella and Luke Kasubke.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald (Marie) Kasubke.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Memorial Park
Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois, with Rev. Phil Girardin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made to any animal rescue organization of the donor’s choice.
