Judith Ruehrup Obituary

Judith M. "Judy" Ruehrup, 79, of rural New Douglas, IL, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026 at her residence.  She was born December 11, 1946 in Breese, IL, the daughter of the late Othmar & Evelyn (Hannig) Schuepbach.  She married Wayne E. Ruehrup on June 11, 1966 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL & he survives.

Judy held several different jobs over the years, working as a telephone operator in Collinsville, IL, then at Bodner Brothers Equipment in Staunton, IL, then later at Litchfield Meat Market in Litchfield, IL with her son Brett, & finally at Firnhaber Florist in Staunton, IL.  But her favorite & most important job to her was taking care of her family!  She was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton, the Ladies Aid of the Church, & she taught Sunday School for many years.

Judy loved planting her flowers & watching them grow, enjoyed her country home of over 50 years, but most of all loved being around her family.

She is survived by her husband -  Wayne E. Ruehrup of rural New Douglas, IL;  two sons -  Brett (Christy) Ruehrup of rural New Douglas, IL,  &  Ryan (Amber) Ruehrup of rural Staunton, IL;  a daughter-in-law -  Ann Lesemann;  four grandchildren -  Logan (Lindsay) Ruehrup of Staunton, IL,  Lauren (Spencer) Raffield of Staunton, IL,  Dylan (fiance' Nicole) Ruehrup of Potosi, MO,  &  Brent Ruehrup of Staunton, IL;  two great grandchildren -  Reed Raffield,  Levi Ruehrup,  & a third great grandchild is soon to be (great granddaughter Evelyn, named after her great great grandmother);  one sister -  Diane (Richard) Weise of Memphis, TN;  & several nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive.

Besides her parents, Judy was preceded in death by one son -  Darian Ruehrup;  two great grandchildren -  Josie Ruehrup  &  baby Raffield;  & a nephew -  Jay Weise.

Visitation will be from 9 AM to 12 noon on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL, with Pastor Phil Girardin officiating.  Burial will follow at Spangle Cemetery near Livingston, IL.

Memorials are suggested to either Zion Lutheran School in Staunton, IL or to Spangle Cemetery near Livingston, IL.
