John R. Nathan

John R. Nathan, 70, of Staunton, IL, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.  He was born December 14, 1954 in New Orleans, LA, the son of the late Mary (Bruckheimer) Nathan & was raised by Bill & Toni Krueger.  He married Peggy S. Franke on June 23, 1979 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL, & she passed away on December 18, 2020.

John was employed as a factory worker at Schutt's Manufacturing in Litchfield, IL for many years, & was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton, IL.  He loved to hang out with his friends at Mr. T's, & watching sports on TV - especially the St. Louis Blues.  He also enjoyed reading the newspaper & listening to his favorite band - Def Leopard.

He is survived by two daughters -  Rebecca (Doug) Looney of Arrington, TN,  &  Mallory (Danny) Scroggins of Staunton, IL;  six grandchildren -  Owen,  Evan,  Greyson,  &  Addy Looney,  &  Camden  &  Keegan Scroggins;  one brother -  Steve Lewin;  one sister -  Penny Lewin;  & several nieces & nephews also survive.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, IL.  In John's honor, the family requests that all attendees at visitation feel free to wear St.  Louis Blues attire or any apparel from their favorite 1980's rock band.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL, with Pastor Phil Girardin officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL. 

Memorials are suggested to either Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton or to the American Heart Association.
