John Edward Koehne

John Edward Koehne, 83, of Staunton, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at his residence in Staunton, IL.  He was born November 20, 1941 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late john J. & Mildred (Hutchings) Koehne.  He married Margaret King on April 25, 1964 at The Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City, IL & she survives.

John graduated from Staunton High School with the Class of 1960.  He was employed as a Route Salesman, retiring in 1998, & a member of Teamsters Local #525 of Alton, IL.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with the 1st Cavalry Division, deploying to Vietnam in 1965.  During his time overseas, he earned the Vietnam Service Medal & the Sharpshooter Badge.  He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Staunton & a member of Staunton VFW Post #1241.  He enjoyed fishing, wood-working, yardwork, & Sunday dinners.

He is survived by his wife -  Margaret Jane Koehne of Staunton, IL;  one daughter -  Mary Catherine Raymer of Staunton, IL;  one daughter-in-law -  Jennifer Koehne of Staunton, IL;  four grandchildren -  Stephen (Jacquelin) Koehne of Alton, IL,  Rebecca Raymer of Edwardsville, IL,  Natalie Raymer (Jack) of Indianapolis, IN,  &  Andrew Koehne of Staunton, IL;  three great grandchildren -  Sara Rose,  Josephine Ren,  &  William John;  his siblings -  Francie Ruffini,  Catherine Ouellette,  Nancy Nolan,  David Koehne,  Angela (Mike) Langiano,  Ellen (John) Gorenz,  Daniel (Karen) Koehne,  &  Carol Silver;  & numerous nieces & nephews also survive.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons -  Jeffrey Koehne  &  John M. Koehne;  & one brother -  James Koehne.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, IL.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, IL, with Father Thomas Hagstrom officiating.  Burial will follow at Hoxsey Cemetery near Alhambra, IL.  The Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites at the cemetery.
