Jean Roberta Rotsch passed away from Covid-19 complications on November 29, 2020 at the Heritage Health facility in Staunton. She was born on September 1, 1933 in Staunton to the late Stanley and Matilda (Kosowski) Cisler. Youngest of four children Stanley (Leona) Cisler, Robert (Delores) Cisler, Violet (Orlin) Johnson. All deceased. She married Wayne Rotsch on October 24, 1953. He preceded her in death in 2011.
Jean attended public school in and graduated in 1951 as valedictorian of her class in Staunton. She then attended Illinois State University.
Jean and Wayne had four children. Steven (Carla) Rotsch of Charleston, WV, Robert (Anita) Rotsch of Staunton, IL, Carol (Greg) Michaels of Bloomington, IL, and Suellen (Dave) Goebel of New Douglas, IL. Jean has 6 grandchildren, Stephanie (Mike) Tallon, Steven (Brandon) Michaels, Jason (Courtney) Michaels, Aaron (Claire) Michaels, Alyse (Dex) Goebel, and Andrew (Diana) Goebel. Four great grandchildren, Emma Tallon, Logan Tallon, Kayden Buus, and Keira Wehrle.
Jean was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Staunton, Staunton Junior Service, Staunton Library Board, member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She delivered Meals on Wheels and worked at Clothes and Things in downtown Staunton. She and Wayne traveled all over the US, Hawaii, Europe, China, Australia, and England, which was her favorite. They spent the winter months in Florida at the Wakulla Inn and Suites. There, they enjoyed their “snow bird” friends and the Atlantic Ocean. She loved family birthdays and gatherings. She and Wayne enjoyed bowling leagues and pinochle clubs. She loved reading books and served many years as a board member of the Staunton Public Library.
A Memorial Mass will be held later. Memorials are suggested to the Staunton Public Library.
