James Oscar Knotts, 88, of Mt. Olive, IL, passed away at 3:08 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at his residence in Mt. Olive, IL. He was born February 19, 1938 in Doniphan, MO, the son of the late James H. & Hilda (Gayle) Knotts. He married Hettie Boulch on August 13, 1960 at New Douglas Christian Church in New Douglas, IL & she survives.
James was a Truck Driver & the Owner/Operator of Landstar in Jacksonville, FL. He was also a member of Teamsters Local #525 of Alton, IL & a proud U.S. Navy veteran. He attended Litchfield Christian Church in Litchfield, IL, & enjoyed gardening & working at home.
He is survived by his wife - Hettie Knotts of Mt. Olive, IL; one daughter - Jacqueline Dirosa of Ft. Worth, TX; one son - James O. Knotts Jr. of San Francisco, CA; & numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, & great nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers & five sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at New Douglas City Cemetery in New Douglas, IL, with Pastor Tim Barbee officiating. Memorials are suggested to either New Douglas City Cemetery or to Litchfield Christian Church in Litchfield, IL.
The Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites.
