James “Jim” DeVries, 60 of Staunton, IL passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Community Hospital in Staunton, IL. Born July 8, 1961, in Staunton, IL, he was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence & Melba (Hartke) DeVries. He married Judy Brunnworth on August 8, 1984, and she survives. Jim worked as a Farm Operations Manager at Sievers Equipment in Hamel, IL for over 40 years and ran his family farm. He graduated from Staunton High School in 1979. He was a member of the Staunton FFA Alumni Association. Jim was a proud farmer and loved old tractors. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton. He was a friend to everyone and was rarely seen without a smile on his face. Jim’s grandchildren were his life.
He is survived by his wife, Judy DeVries of Staunton, IL, 2 daughters, Jaclyn (Eric) Dunnavant of Staunton, IL, and Jodyne (Jordan Bourbon) DeVries of Belleville, IL, 6 siblings, Dean (Miriam) DeVries, Barb (Dennis) Brackman, Glenn (Cheryl) DeVries, Al (Andrea) DeVries, Amy (Jim) Johnson, and Don (Rhonda) DeVries, 3 grandchildren, Theodore & Annabelle Dunnavant, Forrest Bourbon and Baby Bourbon on the way. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 4 to 8 PM at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 10 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton with Rev. Kelly Mitteis officiating. Burial will be held at Spangle Cemetery near Livingston, IL. Memorials are suggested to the Staunton FFA Alumni Association.
