Hazel L. Blaskovich, 93 of Staunton, IL died Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at her residence in Staunton. Born October 15, 1926 in Walshville Township, Illinois, she was a daughter of the Late Mr. & Mrs. Edward & Cora (Edwards) Arndt. She married John “Tye” Blaskovich on August 4, 1950 and he preceded her in death. After graduation from Junior College in Greenville, Hazel taught school at Pleasant Hill & Lamb Schools, which were one-room schoolhouses. After moving to Staunton in 1957, she worked from home for many years as a seamstress. She later worked at First National Bank in Staunton, & then at Cassens Transport in Hamel. Hazel was a member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church of Bunker Hill, Illinois, and Staunton VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by 1 Son -Tyrone (Ruth) Blaskovich – Butler, Illinois, 2 Granddaughters - Beth Genovese & Bridget Stuver, 4 Great Grandchildren - Jon & Ashley Genovese, Chase & Skylar Stuver, 1 Great Great Granddaughter - Autumn Genovese, 7 Nieces - Lorraine Jackson, Lavern Slightom, Jean Fox, Dottie Heeren, Barb Schreiber, Sue Ann Cunningham, & Jolene Henehan. Many Great Nieces & Great Nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Spangle Cemetery near Livingston, Illinois with Rev. Bob Beloit officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
