Harold N. Heigert

Harold N. Heigert, 93, of Staunton, Illinois, passed away at 11:13 AM on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at his residence in Staunton, Illinois.  He was born March 28, 1930 in Staunton, Illinois, the son of the late Benjamin & Frances (Dietz) Heigert.  He married Loretta Mlekush on September 27, 1958 in Vandalia, Illinois & she survives.

Harold was employed as a supervisor at Granite City Steel in Granite City, Illinois for over 30 years, & served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, & Staunton Knights of Columbus #2197.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, & helping Tom farm.

He is survived by his wife -  Loretta Heigert of Staunton, IL;  three children -  Valerie Moore of Springfield, IL,  Diane (Rick) Coronado of McLeansboro, IL,  & Thomas (Laura) Heigert of Staunton, IL;  three grandchildren -  Stephanie (Thomas) Schofield of Mt. Olive, IL,  Jessica Rodgers of Springfield, IL,  & Chris (Brenna) Coronado of McLeansboro, IL;  one great grandchild -  Haley Shryock of Springfield, IL;  one sister -  Lorraine Heigert of Staunton, IL;  & several nephews & cousins also survive.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother -  Elmer Heigert;  a sister-in-law -  Doris Heigert;  & a nephew -  Kenneth Heigert.

Friends may call from 10 AM to 12 noon on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, Illinois.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton, Illinois, with Rev. Thomas Hagstrom officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois.  

Memorials are suggested to either Hospice of Southern Illinois,  Adopt-A-Pet of Benld, Illinois, or to St. Michael's Old Catholic Cemetery in Staunton, Illinois.
