George Otto Wolbert, 93, of Staunton, IL died on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Heritage Health in Staunton, IL. Born March 24, 1926 in Livingston, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Wolbert. He married Evelyn J. Maedge on February 1, 1947 in Edwardsville, IL, and she passed away on April 15, 2013. He worked as a Mechanic/Service Manager in the Auto Service Industry, retiring in 1991. George also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After retirement, George enjoyed gardening, fishing, and working in his yard. He was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton, IL.
He is survived by 2 sons; Thomas (Terri) Wolbert and Jeff (Lisa) Wolbert. 3 Daughters; Penny (John) Kolesar, Kathy Ray, and Candy Wolbert. 11 Grandchildren; Trevor Wolbert, Tenille (Chris) Meyer, Wesley Wolbert, Chantel Wolbert, Kim (Chad) Baugh, J.J. (Courtney) Kolesar, Brandon (Missy) Ray, Ryan (Jamie) Ray, Alecia (Andy Robertson) Ray, Amy (Kevin) Burch, and J.T. Wolbert. 17 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by, 1 son; George Wolbert Jr. 1 Granddaughter; Tiffany Gindler. 1 son-in-law; Joe Ray. 2 Brothers; Raymond Wolbert and Harold Wolbert. 6 sisters; Edna Genczo, Josephine Diaber, Amelia Phillipe, Liddie Wolbert, Margaret Wolbert, and Anna Wolbert.
There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Heritage Health in Staunton. Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton is in charge of arrangements.
