George "Rollie" Lorenz

George "Rollie" Lorenz, 82, of Worden, Illinois, passed away at 7:40 AM on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, Illinois.  He was born March 4, 1941 in Saint Louis, Missouri, the son of the late George W. & Marie Emma (Davis) Lorenz.  He was a graduate of Staunton High School & attended Ranken Technical College.  He served in the Army National Guard.  He married Georgianna Mae Lovejoy & they later divorced.  He then married Rhonda Kay Ridens in 1991 & she survives.

"Rollie" was a retired Electrical Design Draftsman for Ameren & attended NET Community Church.  He was an avid reader who loved the public library.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, yardwork, & anything that allowed him to be outside.  He educated local school children about bats & butterflies and was affectionately known as the "Batman".

He is survived by his wife -  Rhonda Lorenz of Worden, IL;  son Jason (Shawn Geppert) Lorenz of Staunton, IL,  daughter Tara Lorenz Green (Ron) of Worden, IL,  son Eric (Courtney) Lorenz of Staunton, IL;  sister Irene (John) Davis of Mount Olive, IL,  sister Crystal Leaser of Staunton, IL;  mother-in-law -  Joyce McCracken of Worden, IL;  grandchildren Teagan Lorenz,  Patrick Green,  & Haytham Lorenz.  Many nieces & nephews also survive.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Schuerman,  brother-in-law Noble McCreary,  brother-in-law Delmar "Del" Schuerman,  & brother-in-law Charles Leaser.  

There are no formal services.  There will be a luncheon for family from 11 AM to 1 PM, & friends may call from 1 to 4 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Hamel Community Center in Hamel, Illinois.  Memorials are suggested to either The Nature Institute in Godfrey, Illinois or Bat Conservation International.
