Gary G. Pieper, 72, of Staunton, IL, passed away at 6:41 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024 at his residence in Staunton, IL. He was born April 5, 1952 in Staunton, IL, the son of the late Lawrence "Babe" & Dorothy "Dot" (Hesi) Pieper. He was first married to Jane Ellen Murphy, then later married to Rhonda Marie Koval - both marriages ended in divorce.
Gary worked as a Lineman for Norfolk & Western Railroad for several years. He then worked as a "Roadie" for The Grateful Dead for several years, & later owned his own painting business.He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman, & fisherman, & he loved to cook. Gary was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton.
He is survived by one daughter - Jenifer L. (George) Markulakis of Litchfield, IL; three sons - Matthew Jon (Anya Chase) Pieper of Beaufort, SC, Neil Alexander Pieper of St. Louis, MO, & Gram Pieper of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren - Charles Alex Horn, Brandon White, Jenna White, & Aailyah; four great grandchildren - Leighton, Charlie, Diana, & Paisley; two brothers - Richard (Tonya) Pieper of Staunton, IL, & Terry (Dawn) Pieper of Southport, NC; several nieces & nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister - Laurie Pieper.
