Gary Otto Sr. Obituary

Gary Lee Otto Sr., 67, of Mt. Olive, IL, passed away at 4:28 PM on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.  He was born October 29, 1957 in Staunton, IL, the son of the late Fern (Otto) Massey.  He married Kandas Estes on August 31, 2002 in Hillsboro, IL & she survives.

Gary was employed as a truck driver with Norfolk & Southern Railroad in Decatur, IL, & a member of Teamsters Local #1107.  He loved watching for bald eagles & was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.  He enjoyed spending time with family & friends, his grandchildren, camping, & watching NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife -  Kandas Otto of Mt. Olive, IL;  three sons -  Gary Lee (Jessica) Otto Jr. of Litchfield, IL,  Charles R. (Dana) Otto of Staunton, IL,  &  Edward Eugene Otto (Mary Potts) of Fillmore, IL;  two step daughters -  Jennifer (Tyler) Lipe of O'Fallon, MO,  &  Jill (Travis) Miller of Mt. Olive, IL;  eleven grandchildren -  Trent,  Emma,  Ian,  Wyatt,  Carter,  Madison,  Aubrey,  Sawyer,  Khloei,  Brylei,  &  Owen;  three siblings -  James Massey of Alhambra, IL,  Janet Sue (Roger) Cartwright of Eagerville, IL,  &  Greg Massey of Worden, IL;  one uncle -  Ewald Hoffman of Troy, IL;  several nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive.  Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother -  David Massey.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held beginning at 4 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Lazy Day Campground in Litchfield, IL.
