Floriene Fortuna, 99, of Staunton, IL, passed away at 12:16 AM on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. She was born March 1, 1924 in Livingston, IL, the daughter of the late Leslie & Josie (Scanzoni) Lovejoy. She married Dominic Fortuna in June of 1945 & he passed away on January 13, 1978.
Floriene was employed as Lab Technician Supervisor at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton, IL for many years. She was a graduate of Livingston High School in Livingston, IL & the Gradwal Laboratory School of Science in St. Louis, MO. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton, & a past member of the Staunton Country Club, the Staunton Junior Service Club, & the Staunton VFW Post #1241 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters - Ann (Larry) Hall & Mary Jo (Thomas) Kuehl; two grandchildren - Amy (Doug) Paris & Matthew Kuehl; five great grandchildren - Samantha Pointon, Emily Pointon, Jonathan Pointon, Zachary Paris, & Oliver Kuehl; a sister-in-law - Violet Ziglar of Staunton, IL; a niece - Jane (Cliff) Homeier - Staunton, IL; a nephew - Fred (Gina) Lotter of Staunton, IL. Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by a sister - Shirley Lotter.
No services are scheduled. Private interment will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL.
