Fern Amellia (Hoffman) Massey

Fern Amellia Massey, 82, of Eagerville, IL - formerly of Worden, IL, passed away at 4:35 on Friday, July 26, 2024 at her residence in Eagerville, IL.  She was born March 20, 1942 in Highland, IL, the daughter of the late Clarence & Alberta (Otto) Hoffman.  she married James Massey & he preceded her in death in January 1970.

Fern was employed as a Dietary Aide at Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, IL.  She was a member & confirmed at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL.  She enjoyed cooking & baking, & adored her grandchildren!

She is survived by three sons -  Gary (Candy) Otto of Mt. Olive, IL,  Jim Massey of Alhambra, IL,  &  Greg Massey of Worden, IL;  one daughter -  Sue (Roger) Cartwright of Eagerville, IL;  twelve grandchildren;  twenty-three great grandchildren;  two great great grendchildren (due in November);  one brother -  Edwald (Lynn) Hoffman of Troy, IL;  & numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive.  Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by one son -  David Massey;  one great grandson -  Blake;  one sister -  Frieda Hoffman;  &  two brothers -  Edward & Fred Hoffman.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the family (checks payable to Sue Cartwright).
