Eugene J. Wieseman, 84, of rural Worden, Illinois, passed away at 4:39 AM on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at his residence near Worden, Illinois. He was born October 2, 1937 in Bunker Hill, Illinois, son of the late George Adam & Johanna Gertrude (Garde) Wieseman. He was married to Pauline "Pat" Sawyer on July 1, 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bunker Hill, Illinois, & she survives.
He was a lifelong farmer - also retired after 31 years with LaClede Steel in Alton, Illinois & he then started Wieseman Auction Service in 1989, which is still going after 32 years. He also spent 6 years in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. He graduated from Staunton High School in 1955 after attending Butler Country School through the 8th grade. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Staunton, IL - also a member of Bunker Hill American Legion Post #578 - Madison County Farm Bureau - Illinois State Auctioneers Association - St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Board - 1st Alumni member of the Staunton FFA.
Survivors include his wife - Pauline "Pat" Wieseman; 7 children - Tom (Denise) Wieseman, Jim (Laura) Wieseman, Paula (Rich) Hatfield, Wayne (Lisa) Wieseman, Julie (Chad) Matesa, Pam (Jeff) Black, & Joe (Jessica) Wieseman; 23 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; & several nieces & nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter - Diane Marie Wieseman, a brother - Charles George Wieseman, & an infant great grandson - Richard Michael Johnson.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Staunton, with Father Thomas Hagstrom officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Bunker Hill, Illinois. Bunker Hill American Legion Post #578 will conduct graveside military rites. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Bunker Hill, Illinois.
