Edwin W. "Sonny" Sievers Jr.

Edwin W. “Sonny” Sievers Jr. passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at his residence in Worden, IL with family by his side. He was born April 28, 1933, in New Douglas, IL to the late Mr. & Mrs. Edwin W. & Esther (Sievers) Sievers Sr. He married Carmen Oehler on June 23, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL and she survives. He served in the US Army.  Sonny worked as a farmer on the family farm for many years. He loved his family more than anything.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen Sievers, 3 children, Nadine Sievers of Litchfield, IL, Denise (Keith) Buschmann of Staunton, IL, and Kevin (Mary) Sievers of Gillespie, IL, 5 grandchildren, Jeremy Engelke of Staunton, IL, Jenny (Jason) Overby of Staunton, IL, Justin Engelke of Staunton, IL, Nick Sievers of Edwardsville, IL, and Colin Sievers of Worden, IL, 3 great grandchildren, 2 siblings, Melvin (Lucille) Sievers of Staunton, IL  and Velma (Don) Granda of New Douglas, IL, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Joshua McCrady and Brittney Sievers.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, IL. Funeral Services will follow at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton with Pastor Philip Girardin officiating. Burial will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, IL. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church – Men’s Club or to St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel, IL.
