Earl W. Thiems

Earl W. Thiems, 86, of New Douglas, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.  He was born January 26, 1937 in Old Ripley, Illinois, the son of the late John & Emma (Hemann) Thiems.  He married Dorothea Driesner on January 26, 1963 in Grantfork, Illinois & she passed away August 25, 2001.

Earl was a sheet metal worker at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri, & was a U.S. Army veteran.  He faithfully attended First Baptist Church in Highland, Illinois & was a member of the Men's Breakfast Committee.  He was a member of IAMAW, the New Douglas Volunteer Fire Department, & the Tri-County Water Board.  He enjoyed mowing grass.

He is survived by three children -  Margie Orf,  Edward Thiems & Tammy,  & Faye (Timothy) Buchmiller;  six grandchildren -  Tasha,  Luke,  Samantha,  Zachary,  Ashlee,  & Brittani;  four great grandchildren;  & several nieces, nephews, & cousins.  Besides his wife & parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter - Patricia Thiems (in infancy);  a son - Carl Thiems;  two brothers - Leroy (Elinor) Thiems & Gilbert (Helen) Thiems; &  a son-in-law - Thomas Orf.

Friends may call from 10 AM to 12 noon on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton.  Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, with burial in New Douglas Cemetery in New Douglas, Illinois.  Memorials are suggested to either the First Baptist Church of Highland, the New Douglas Fire Department, or to the American Cancer Society.  

The Staunton Military Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites.
