Doris J. (Skiff) Thomas

Doris J. Thomas, 97, of Staunton, IL, passed away at 2:30 PM on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Community Hospital of Staunton, IL.  She was born January 12, 1927 in Westervelt, IL, the daughter of the late Jesse & Florence (Martin) Skiff.  She married Gaylord H. Thomas on January 5, 1944 in Wood River, IL & he passed away in September of 1984.

Doris was employed as a Postal Clerk at both the Worden, IL & Edwardsville, IL post offices.  She also raised 4 boys (!), & was a member of the Staunton VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by four sons -  Gary L. (Rosemary) Thomas of Edwardsville, IL,  Richard A. (Patty) Thomas of Staunton, IL,  Scott A. (Linda) Thomas of Staunton, IL,  &  Bruce D. Thomas of Worden, IL;  six grandchildren;  &  seven great grandchildren.  Besides her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the Staunton Food Pantry.
