Donald Lee "Donnie" Mitchelar

Donald Lee "Donnie" Mitchelar, 76, of Staunton, IL, passed away at 3:55 PM on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at his residence in Staunton, IL.  He was born February 19, 1949 in Livingston, IL, the son of the late William & Lucille (Schubert) Mitchelar.  He married Shirley K. Buzick on October 14, 1972 in Carlinville, IL & she passed away on February 4, 2020.

Donnie was employed as a Shop Steward in Production Control with McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in St. Louis, MO & was a member of IAM Local #837 of St. Louis, MO.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, & a member of the 101st Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Campbell, KY.  He was also a member of Staunton American Legion Post #364, Concordia Hall of Staunton, the NRA, & his "Poker League".

He is survived by three sons -  John (Jill) Mitchelar of Benld, IL,  Mike (Melissa) Mitchelar of Bunker Hill, IL,  &  Matt (Shannon) Mitchelar of Staunton, IL;  seven grandchildren -  Kade,  Dane,  Zander,  Garrett,  John,  Emmett,  &  Beckett;  & numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins also survive.  Besides his wife & parents, he was preceded in death by a brother -  William Mitchelar.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1 to 5 PM at the Staunton VFW Hall.

Memorials are suggested to Staunton American Legion Post #364.
