Christa (Kreuz) Henke

Christa Henke, 79 of Staunton, Illinois passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, IL. Born March 31, 1940 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, she was a daughter of the Late Mr. & Mrs. Karl & Emma (Bach) Kreuz. She married Maurice Henke on June 16, 1962 at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany and he passed away on March 14, 2013. Christa was a clerk at Fritz’s Drug Store in Staunton for 22 years and was later employed at First National Bank in Staunton for 11 years. Christa enjoyed quilting and was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton; a past member of Staunton Lions Club and Staunton VFW Post #1241 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by 2 Sons, Bryan (DeAnna) Henke of Alvin, TX and Darryl Henke of Staunton, IL; 5 Grandchildren, Joshua Henke & Whitney (Taylor) Breen, and their Mother, Wanda; Gage Henke, Raylan & Annabelle Christine Henke; 2 Great Grandchildren, Brooks Breen & Elliot Henke; 1 Sister, Margarete (Karl) Rais of Switzerland; 2 Sisters-in-Law, Liesel Kreuz of Kaiserslautern, Germany and Rose Ann Mengelkamp of Staunton, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Sister, Gertrude Weber and 1 Brother, Friedrich Kreuz.

Private Memorial Services will be held later. Memorials are suggested to Spangle Cemetery.
