Charmaine Banovic, 88, of Staunton, IL passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Liberty Village in Maryville, IL. Born March 1, 1934, in St. Louis, MO, she was a daughter of the late James Lowry Sr. and Helen (Mueller) Lowry. She married Raymond R. Banovic on October 30, 1954, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton (the old church) and he passed away on May 9, 1982. She worked as a Bookkeeper for S&L McKay Auto Parts in Staunton for many years. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton as well as the Women’s Fellowship of the Church.
She is survived by 1 son, Kevin (Sheri) Banovic of Staunton, IL, 1 daughter, Darla (Darik) Jones of Worden, IL, 2 grandchildren, Elyse Podwojski and Jennifer Banovic. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Charles, Bill, James Jr., Kenneth, and Edward Lowry.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 Am on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton with Pastor Debbie Jo Atkins officiating. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Organ Restoration Fund.
