Catherine L. "Cathy" Horton

Catherine "Cathy" Horton, 71, of Staunton, IL, passed away peacefully on hospice at her sister Janie's home, with family at her bedside on December 16, 2024.

Cathy was born on December 23, 1952 in Chester, IL.  She is the daughter of Dorothy Brabec of Staunton, IL, & Thompson A. Horton of Sneedville, Tennessee.  Cathy lived with her mother Dorothy Brabec & was given excellent care for over 55 years.  Cathy attended Staunton High School & had many friends.

Cathy is survived by her mother -  Dorothy Brabec of Staunton, IL;  sisters -  Charlotte Horton-Davis (Steve) of Lee's Summit, MO,  &  Janie Sanks of Staunton, IL;  brothers -  Thomas Lark (Barb) Horton of Smithton, IL,  &  Sammy (Judy) Valerio of Staunton, IL;  &  3 nephews -  Christopher Heigert of Assumption, IL, Bobby LaRosa and Dustin Sanks of Staunton, IL, 1 niece, Dana Matesa of Staunton, IL.  Cathy was preceded in death by her father -  Thompson Horton;  her grandmother -  "Granny" Dora Mizer;  brother-in-law -  Bill Sanks;  &  half brother -  Silas Horton.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the Staunton Methodist Church, 513 W. Main, on Cathy's birthday, December 23, from 5 to 7 PM, with Pastor Nancy Hubert officiating.  Food catered by Fema.  RSVP appreciated, but not mandatory at 1-269-615-0698.
